This is a design for a product I came up with after being frustrated by how boring most jewelry storage racks are.
When I left to live in San Francisco, I was gifted some pairs of earrings, as I’d expressed a desire to get mine pierced before. I wanted a way to display these and encourage myself to enjoy wearing them, and so this design was borne from that desire. I also have lots of pins that I like to wear but don’t wear very often, so I wanted to include a way to display my pins to make it easier to accessorize in the morning.
I saw a model for a sort of Victorian-looking wardrobe for earrings on thingiverse and had the inspiration to make a more sleek, wall-mounted form that highlights the jewelry. The button mesh is perfect for pins as you can stick one end of the pin in and they stay securely there. I’ve had this installed on my wall for the last 8 months and it is one of my favourite little pieces of furniture in my room.
Please take a look at the design concept, CAD development, printing, and execution. I’d really like to develop this into a real product someday so I’ll keep working on the design in the next revision!
